Dovhenke, part i

February 16, 2024

THIS does not even begin to describe yesterday. Pictured: a russian BM-27 Uragan missile launched at a tiny village home in eastern Ukraine with an important military installation: a children’s swing set. This entire village, located east of Kharkiv, was occupied from March to September 2024. It is nearly completely destroyed. There is no electricity, no water, no gas, no utilities, no government, no services. All of the homes, schools, markets, pharmacy, farms and equipment have been blown apart. The few houses that remain bear the marks of their russian occupants as they scrawled their names, symbols and insignia on its walls before they departed with everything that was not bolted down. Very few residents remain and those who do face a grave risk to their lives from unexploded ordinance and mines.
